The USF Bulls continued their dominant run, securing their seventh straight win with a 74-62 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday. The fast-paced start by the Bulls set the tone early and proved to be the difference.
The game began with the Bulls firing on all cylinders, led by Sammie Pusisi, who seemed to carry over the hot hand from her previous game. Pusisi hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter alone, giving the Bulls an explosive start. USF outscored FAU 22-9 in the opening frame, leaving the Owls scrambling to keep pace.
However, FAU wasn’t going to go down without a fight. The Owls regrouped and started to chip away at the deficit, putting together a solid second quarter. Their effort was evident as they managed to close the gap by halftime, with the score at 37-30 in favor of USF.
The Owls came out swinging out of the break, putting together a gritty third-quarter performance. Though the Bulls outscored them by just two points, the Owls continued to push, refusing to back down. FAU’s offense started to click, and the Bulls began to feel the pressure.
In the fourth quarter, both teams battled fiercely, with FAU continuing their comeback attempt. Despite their best efforts, the Owls could not fully overcome the early deficit, getting outscored by just three points in the final frame. The fast start by the Bulls, combined with key contributions from Pusisi and others, proved too much for FAU to handle.
With the 12-point victory, USF extended its win streak to seven games. Pusisi, who finished with an impressive 23 points, continues to be a key player for the Bulls, her shooting stroke is a major factor in the team’s success.
