The Milwaukee Panthers nearly overcame a 14-point second-half deficit but fell short in a nail-biting 81-79 loss to Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
Trailing 55-41 in the second half, the Panthers (13-7, 6-3 Horizon League) sparked a 14-2 run to close the gap to 57-55. They later cut the deficit to 72-71, keeping the crowd on edge. In the final seconds, the Panthers had opportunities to tie or win the game, but a crucial block ended one chance, and their last attempt with 0.6 seconds left missed the mark.
The loss snapped the Panthers’ 12-game home winning streak, a run that dated back to last season, and marked their first defeat at home this season (9-1). Meanwhile, the Colonials (13-7, 5-4 Horizon League) secured a hard-fought road victory.
“Give Robert Morris a ton of credit,” Milwaukee coach Bart Lundy said. “They were tougher, more physical, more prepared and the better-coached team today. (RMU coach Andrew Toole) has done an unbelievable job with that group. They have multiple weapons that present a real challenge to guard.”
