Mid-Major Basketball: Top 25 Poll

Memphis has claimed the No. 1 spot in the Mid-Major Basketball Top 25 Poll, solidifying its position with an impressive start to the season. The Tigers delivered standout performances at last week’s Maui Invitational, earning signature victories over No. 2 UConn and Michigan State. They also held their own against No. 4 Auburn, considered by many to be the nation’s top team, overcoming a slow start to outscore the Tigers in the second half before falling short.

While college football follows a clear structure with automatic-qualifying and non-qualifying conferences for the College Football Playoff, the term “mid-major” in basketball is more subjective. For clarity and consistency, MidMajorBasketball.com defines mid-majors as teams from conferences outside the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and Big East.
