Mid-major conference tournaments tip off this week, signaling the full arrival of March Madness. Saint Mary’s continues to hold the top spot in the latest Mid-Major Basketball Power 20.
The biggest movement came from the Mountain West, where Utah State tumbled after blowout losses to Boise State and Colorado State, while New Mexico also slipped following a defeat to San Diego State. Meanwhile, Bradley climbed into the Power 20 after being part of last week’s “Next Five Up,” and Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee earned spots in that watchlist group.
While college football follows a clear structure with automatic-qualifying and non-qualifying conferences for the College Football Playoff, the term “mid-major” in basketball is more subjective. For clarity and consistency, MidMajorBasketball.com defines mid-majors as teams from conferences outside the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and Big East.
Below is a look at the latest Mid-Major Basketball Mid-Major Power 20 rankings, with five additional teams to watch. View last week’s poll here.
